FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TCOG to Host TxCDBG Meeting

SHERMAN, DECEMBER 18, 2023 – Eric M. Bridges, Executive Director announced today that the TCOG will host the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) on January 19, 2024 for a TxCDBG Kickoff Meeting during which folks will hear about the grant allocations planned for our region as well as an overview of proposed changes to the CDBG application process.

The meeting will be held at TCOG’s main office at 1117 Gallagher Drive, Sherman, TX in the Eisenhower Room from 9:00a to 11:00a.   To register, please either call (903) 813-2161 ext 3527 or click here.

Every year, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds directly to states, which in turn, provide the funds to cities with populations under 50,000, and to counties that have a non-metropolitan population under 200,000 and are not eligible for direct funding from HUD.  These communities are called non-entitlement areas because they must apply for CDBG directly through the Texas CDBG program administered by TDA.

The Texoma Council of Governments is a voluntary association of the local governments in Cooke, Fannin, and Grayson Counties. Established in 1968, the Texoma Council of Governments promotes economy and efficiency in the coordinated planning and development of the tri-county region through its community and economic development activities.  Either directly, or through contractors, the Council provides housing, utility assistance, and weatherization services for low-income citizens in the region and assists the elderly through a variety of Area Agency on Aging programs. The Council also facilitates the delivery of grant funding for homeland security and criminal justice.
