About HUD-Veterans Administration Supportive Housing (VASH)
The HUD-VASH Program is administered by TCOG and is a collaborative effort between the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The Goal
The goal of the program is to restore the lives of chronically homeless veterans through:
1
Case Management
Providing intense case management including individualized assessment and treatment planning.
2
Rental Assistance
Providing rental assistance through participation in the TCOG Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.
The Gap
The concept is great… find our homeless Veterans, give them the supportive services they need and a place they can lay their head at night.
But there is something missing from this collaboration. These Veterans come to us with nothing… not a cup, a spoon, a bed, a couch… nothing.
The VASH Program provides supportive services and a roof and four walls, but not a home. Our Veterans deserve more than this, for their service and sacrifice they deserve a place that feels like a real home. This is our opportunity to make that happen, to show our appreciation and support to those who have given so much.
How you can help
By making a contribution, you can help give a Veteran a fresh start, a place to call HOME.
