SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Foster Grandparent Supervisor provides daily oversight and support of the AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program (FGP). This position ensures that Foster Grandparent volunteers, who are 55 years of age and older and meet income eligibility requirements, are effectively recruited, screened, trained, placed, and supervised in compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors policies and performance measures. The Supervisor manages program operations, monitors volunteer performance, maintains required records, and ensures that the program meets all federal and grantee share requirements. This position serves the Texoma Region, including Cooke, Fannin, and Grayson Counties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
Program Compliance
- Ensure the Foster Grandparent Program operates in full compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors regulations, grant terms, and agency policies.
- Conduct and document all required criminal history checks, including FBI fingerprint, National Sex Offender Registry, and state checks.
- Track and maintain all required Foster Grandparent documentation, including income eligibility forms, timesheets, evaluations, and training records.
- Monitor program outcomes and performance measures as defined by AmeriCorps.
- Maintain current and signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with volunteer stations (schools and community partners).
- Attend required AmeriCorps trainings and implement program updates as directed.
Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Supervision
- Promote, recruit, interview, and screen Foster Grandparent applicants.
- Provide 20 hours of pre-service orientation to all new Foster Grandparents.
- Schedule and conduct monthly In-Service trainings, including coordinating speakers, providing educational content, and arranging meals.
- Provide ongoing supervision and support to volunteers to ensure meaningful service assignments and program compliance.
- Track and recognize volunteer achievements; prepare and present annual awards.
Program Management & Reporting
- Print, compute, and process Foster Grandparent timesheets monthly; ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
- Track and analyze performance data for reporting to AmeriCorps and agency leadership.
- Prepare required reports in alignment with AmeriCorps performance measures and timelines.
- Manage program budget and ensure timely, appropriate use of grant funds.
- Seek and document in-kind contributions and additional funding sources to meet required grantee share.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with the Aging Department staff to support agency goals and community partnerships.
- Represent the Foster Grandparent Program in the community, promoting awareness and fostering positive relationships with schools, agencies, and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with older adults, volunteers, or mentoring programs preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver training sessions and group events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of grant management, compliance, and reporting preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- High school diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of three to five years of related experience is preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position may be considered in lieu of diploma.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
- Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to successfully pass a National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) check, Texas State Criminal History and Other Offenses check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check, as required by AmeriCorps Seniors.
WAGE:
$23.19/hour
Non-Exempt Full-time (40 hours/week)
